MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, April 27, 1998 - Shoreline Teleworks today announced Back Office Voice Network, a new market segment that gives companies greater flexibility and functionality than traditional PBX or Key system-based solutions. By integrating voice communications with standards-based data networking technology and an industry-standard client/sever environment, Shoreline Teleworks will offer mid- to smaller-sized enterprises voice and computer telephony in a system that exploits current and future networking technologies.

"The Internet, mobile computing and voice/data integration are driving the demand for better business communications systems — companies are demanding access to new and exciting voice applications with the traditional reliability people expect from a business phone system. They also call for the scalability, interoperability, and manageability of a data network, supported by a single solution provider," said John Fazio, Shoreline chief executive officer. "While CTI products offer partial solutions, the Back Office Voice Network provides a comprehensive framework for today’s voice and computer telephony features plus scalability for growth into new areas such as IP-based voice, visual voice mail and intuitive call control."

Shoreline Teleworks' new architecture integrates voice communications with standards-based data networks, PCs and servers. Back Office Voice Network solutions will overcome the shortcomings of legacy PBX and key telephone systems, which are costly, difficult to manage and based on proprietary, dead-end technology that is often replaced every three to five years. In addition, unlike the majority of piecemeal CTI products on the market today, Shoreline Teleworks will provide a comprehensive, reliable platform that brings the power of data networking to voice communications.

By transitioning from traditional proprietary telephone systems to a standards-based Back Office Voice Network solution that utilizes IPBX technology from Shoreline Teleworks, companies can achieve a number of benefits including:

  • Access to best-of-breed 3rd party applications
  • Technology that migrates with changing needs.
  • Elimination of specialized training for proprietary systems
  • A reliable business-class communications system

Shoreline Teleworks will introduce a Back Office Voice Network solution this summer. The company is previewing its system during NetWorld + Interop, May 5-7 in Las Vegas, booth # 1901.
